Description
This book details the lives of John Russell and Gwendolyn Harmon Hatch as well as their ancestors and descendants. Russell and Gwendolyn were born just 30 odd years after the Mormon Pioneers arrived in the valley of the Great Salt Lake. Their parents came for religious reasons to what was then considered a desolate, inhospitable area. Russell’s Grandparents, living in western New York, were some of the first to join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Both of Gwendolyn’s parents joined the Church in Wales, then came to America and west to Salt Lake City. Because of their ancestry, this book provides insights into the great Mormon migration from an up close perspective.
From the day of their marriage Russ and Gwen devoted their lives to raising a family. They did not record their lives in words, but they did take numerous photographs of family life, which tells their story in a most descriptive way. These photographs were compiled into a scrapbook that Russell Hatch repeatedly showed to his family. Eventually Russell's son, Ephraim Hatch, appended more photos and text to this scrapbook and published it as a hard copy.
Now this book is being made available in digital format for future generations Russell and Gwendolyn's descendants to enjoy.
